I've been watching the movie Franklyn today. It is, I think, a brilliant film that follows the life of a mental patient and a incidentally-suicidal artist. Maddeningly, it blends different worlds as seen through the eyes of Jonathon Preest (who is also David Esser), and a girl named Emilia (who is also Sally). Confusing and engaging, this movie depicts the duality of perceptive realms, and conflicts of the functionally mentally ill, in a way that I can understand. Blended in this is a statement on religion, police state anonymity and confused relationships with parents.
In the end, and after long European-style cinematic storytelling, it resolves to recognition and resolution. The characters are well written, the dialog crisp and artistic, and the scenes seem to be selectively created only after much consideration.
I loved the movie because it disturbed me with fantastic authenticity, and because it seemed designed for one as disturbed as myself.
You might consider seeing it. In the very least, it fits in the theme of our lovely Andromorphia Asylum.
