Note: A practical example of this can be found by following this link.
When you have created a post that ends your character's presence in one location and then post again in another location, the easiest way to make your storyline flow and get your readers to follow you from one thread to another is by creating a link in each that refers to the other. This is accomplished in the following way:
1) Write your first post and hit the Submit button on the posting page.
2) Copy the URL of your new post when it appears in your browser URL window.
Note: If you missed this the first time you can always push the edit button on the post and then the submit button (with or without making edits) and the post address should come up in the URL window.
3) Create your new post in the second thread location. Pick a word or phrase that describes where you came from in your post and highlight it.
4) Press the B (bold) then the U (Underline) then the URL Buttons at the top of the posting window.
5) Insert your cursor between the "l" in "url" and the closing bracket. This will look like this -> [url
|] (the red bit is your cursor).
6) Type the "=" sign right after the "url" (ie -
and then paste the url you copied earlier (from your first post)in between the "=" sign and the closing bracket (]). This will look like this ->
[url=http://urlofyourlast post.com][bold tage here][underline tag here]your descriptive phrase here[/b][/u] 7) Hit Submit button to post your second post in the new thread. then copy the url from your new post, go back to the first post. Hit Edit on your first post, and repeat the procedure to create a link from your first post leading to your second post in the new thread.
There! Simple right? If anyone has any trouble with any of this, please feel free to PM me, and I'll try and walk you through it. Have fun! And welcome to Septentrio!
